Our Take On Spark Energy

Based on our analysis of this company, the customer feedback we have detected from various sources, we have given Infinite Energy:

Infinite Energy only provides electric service in Texas. It offers a comprehensive range of fixed-rate plans, with durations ranging from 3 to 36 months. However, the company does not offer green energy plans, variable rate plans, or other innovations like cheaper nights and weekends usage. Some consumers might find their offer limited, while others might be happy with the simplicity and straightforwardness of the choices available. Compare reviews with other suppliers.

Description of the Plan Types

Fixed Rate Plans

A fixed rate is a rate whose price (in ¢/kWh) does not change over the whole period of the contract. However, consumers should be aware that many energy retailers will automatically transfer their customers to a variable rate once their fixed rate contract has finished. Find out more about what a fixed rate is.

Customers report that they appreciate savings on fixed rate electricity plans from Infinite Energy. Fixed rate plans can often be a good deal if you are able to lock in a good rate at the right time of year.

Electricity customers should opt for fixed rate contracts of longer periods of time (6 months or more). Electricity prices per kilowatt-hour fluctuate throughout the year, and you may actually lose money by not being able to take advantage of prices when they are low. However, because electricity prices tend to increase over time, locking in fixed rates for longer periods may prove advantageous and deliver savings.

Variable Rate Plans

A variable rate is a rate (in ¢/kWh) that changes every month. How the rate changes can be at the discretion of the supplier, or it might be based on a specific mathematical formula and/or based on an energy index. We recommend this rate if you are planning on moving out in less than 6 months. Infinite Energy does not offer variable rate plans in Texas, but at the end of the contract duration, customers who have not renewed will be switched to a variable rate, month to month plan. If you are considering a variable rate plan from another provider, or would like to know more, please consult our page on variable rates.

Base Charges

Some plans with Infinite Energy apply a minimum usage charge. Therefore, the total price per kWh may be higher than advertised, depending on your consumption. The price will change if you consume less than or more than 1000 kWh/month. If you do not know your monthly energy consumption, please use our Estimation Tool.

Green Energy Plans

Infinite Energy does note offer 100% green energy plans, but offers 5% renewable content in their standard electricity mix. This is well below the Texas average of 10.7%.
