PSEG Long Island used to be called Long Island Power Authority (LIPA). While LIPA still exists and owns the electric transmission & distribution infrastructure, but any customer related issues in now dealt with by PSEG Long Island.

Customer Service

PSEG Long Island's customer service hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please note that customer service is closed on evenings and weekends.

If you are a residential customer you can call PSEG Long Island toll-free at 1-800-490-0025 or at 631-755-6000. Business customers can reach PSEG LI customer service at 631-755-3417 or toll-free at 1-800-966-4818.

Service Theft

If you think you have been the victim of fraud, or that your service has been stolen, call 631-755-6871.

Emergency Numbers

Call 1-800-490-0075 to report an outage or electrical emergency. This number is available 24/7.

You can also report outages by texting "OUT" to PSEGLI (773454). Please note that in order to be able to report an outage by text, you must first register your phone by texting "REG" to the same number. You can also report an outage online through your PSEG LI online account.

Downed Power Lines?
Call 1-800-490-0075 or 1-631-755-6900. Never touch a downed wire or anything that has come in contact with a wire; call PSEG Long Island immediately.

Bill Payment

You have two options if you would like to pay your electricity bill over the phone. PSEG Long Island accepts payment over the phone from your bank account for free at 1-800-490-0025 or at 631-755-6000. Note that this is an automated system, so you can pay anytime (24/7).

For payment by credit card, PSEG Long Island uses the third-party service Speedpay® (a Western Union company). Speedpay® accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Cards bearing the STAR, NYCE, PULSE or ACCEL logos. Their phone line for payment is 1-888-608-6669. Note that Speedpay® charges a $2.95 per transaction service charge, and accepts up to four (4) payments within 30 days.
