ConEdison Level Payment
Tired of unpredictable bills? ConEdison's Level Payment plan might be right for you. We explain more about it here.
How it Works
The rate you pay with ConEdison is variable, meaning that it - along with the total amount on your bill - can change considerably from month to month. ConEdison's Level Payment plan can help you avoid unpredictable monthly bills by estimating your total annual bill and dividing it into 12 equal monthly payments.
This estimation is made by looking at last year's electricity/gas usage. Your account is "balanced" once a year. If you have paid for more than you have consumed ConEdison will credit your next bill, and if you have paid for less than your actual consumption cost the amount remaining will be added to your next bill. ConEdison may alter your monthly amount throughout the year if your usage is not exactly the same as last year or if prices change dramatically, in order to avoid a big adjustment at the end of the year.
What Changes With Level Payment?
Each month you will receive a bill as normal. It will outline how much electricity you have used that month, and display what you would be paying without the Level Payment plan and what you actually pay as part of Level Payment. This allows you to track and compare how much you have paid compared to what you owe.
Are you Eligible for Level Payment?
Call ConEdison Customer Service at 1-800-752-6633, or check if you are eligible through your online ConEdison account. Most utilities require that you have no outstanding balance on your account. If you are a new customer may be a good idea to wait at least a few months before setting up Level Payment, as it will help PSEG Long Island estimate your amount accurately.
Is it Right for Me?
Level Payment could be a good option for customers on a tight buget/limited income. If you find unpredictable bills difficult to manage, you might want to consider it.
