Fixed Rate Plans

We recommend only fixed rate contracts with alternate suppliers, because variable rates are not regulated by your local government and can quickly become more expensive than what your local utility charges.

With fixed rates, customers can save by locking in one rate for their entire contract. Normally, we only recommend periods of 18 months or more for electricity customers, because the rate of electricity per kilowatt-hour rises over time but fluctuates so much over the course of a year that customers may lose money over longer periods of time.

Some customers find the added benefit of green energy to be worth the possibility of paying extra for shorter electricity contracts.

Natural gas customers should opt for 12 month or shorter contracts, because the price of natural gas per therm/cubic foot is actually falling over time, but is much cheaper during the winter than other times of the year. Customers can save if they lock in during winter months.

Social Media Presence

In order to get its name out there, BlueRock Energy prides itself on actively using social media. The company interacts with customers on Facebook, Twitter, and more, and interacts with sports fans during and around Buffalo Bills football games.

The company is connected to football through its official spokesman Aaron Williams, safety for the Buffalo Bills.

Customer Reviews

BlueRock Energy has an A+ rating for customer service from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), as of March 2015. BBB reports that the company does a good job of responding to official complaints quickly and effectively. Additionally, the company receives a small number of complaints relative to its size.

However, some customers report confusion on guaranteed savings plans, which provide savings only on an annual basis. Customers must stay 12 months minimum with BlueRock Energy in order to save in comparison to their local utility. Some find this requirement to not be well-disclosed.
