RG&E serves about 371,000 electric and 307,000 natural-gas customers across western New York. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Avangrid Inc., which is in turn majority-owned by the Spanish utility Iberdrola. Its sibling utility NYSEG covers a different territory in the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes; the two share a parent but file separate rate cases.
