Normally we do not recommend contract lengths of 12 month or less for fixed rate electricity plans, because the market price of electricity fluctuates so much in one year that they may not be a good deal. However, if you are able to lock in a competitive rate, the added value of renewable energy may be worth it. Avoid fixed rate contracts of less than 12 months.
We do not recommend variable rate plans because they are subject to increase above market rates.
