About

Who is Energy Plus?

Registered as Energy Plus Holdings, LLC, Energy Plus uses this legal name for state public-utility-commission filings and customer contracts. The trading name on bills is the shorter, more recognisable form.

The company is headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, where it runs senior management, customer operations and regulatory liaison with state commissions.

Energy Plus was established in 2007. A longer track record means more years operating under state-commission rules and a wider history of customer feedback, billing and regulatory interactions.

Energy Plus is part of the NRG Energy, Inc. group, which provides shared governance, financial backing and a broader pool of expertise in wholesale-market trading, hedging and regulatory work.

Plan structure

What plan types does Energy Plus offer?

Rewards electricity plans

Energy Plus's flagship product: a supply plan paired with a partner-loyalty reward — airline miles (historically Continental, United, American), credit-card cash back, or 529 college-savings deposits. The unit rate funds both the supply and the reward.

Standard fixed-rate plans

Conventional fixed-rate electricity supply without a loyalty reward attached. Typically a lower unit rate than the rewards plans.

Natural gas plans

Energy Plus also markets natural gas supply in MD, NJ, NY and OH where customer choice is available.

Contact

Reach Energy Plus customer service

Energy Plus's customer service handles enrollment questions, billing, switching and complaints. Have your account number from a recent bill ready to speed up the call.

  • Have your Energy Plus account number ready before calling. Rewards-program questions may be routed to the partner (e.g. airline, credit card) rather than Energy Plus itself.
  • For an outage or downed wires, call your local utility — Energy Plus never handles the physical grid.
  • Always compare the rewards-plan unit rate against the cheapest non-reward alternative — the cash value of the reward must offset the higher unit rate to actually save you money.

Frequently asked

Energy Plus — answers to common questions

Energy Plus is regulated by the public utility commission in each state where it operates. Reliability is best judged against your own usage profile: read recent reviews, confirm the customer-service hours match when you actually need to call, and compare the unit rate against the utility's price-to-compare for your zip code.

Plans can typically be enrolled directly on Energy Plus's website or by calling 1-855-500-8707. Before signing up, always compare the unit rate (¢/kWh for electricity, $/therm for gas) against your utility's price-to-compare for your zip code.

You can switch your retail supplier at any time, though early termination fees (typically $50-$200) may apply if you are on a fixed-rate plan and within the contract term. Check your enrollment letter or Terms of Service for the exact figure. Switching back to your default utility supply is always free.
