New customers should contact Central Hudson 5 business days or more before moving in to ensure that electricity and natural gas service begins in time. You will need to provide the following:

• Full name
• Move in date
• New & previous address
• Telephone number
• Social security or passport number

You can set up your account in person at the New Windsor office, or you can call Central Hudson's main customer service line at 1-845-452-2700 from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, and 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Saturday.

Choosing an Alternate Supplier (ESCO)

Central Hudson is your local utility and default electricity and/or natural gas provider for delivery and supply. 

Delivery covers services related to getting energy to your home, and supply covers the cost of energy you consume and customer serice. By choosing an alternate Energy Supply Company (ESCO) you may be able to save on energy supply charges.

Before choosing an ESCO, you must open an account with Central Hudson first. The ESCO will need your Central Hudson account number in order to start supplying your energy. Most suppliers do not charge a fee to set up service, but it is important to be informed about other common contract conditions. You can choose between variable and fixed rates, though we recommend fixed.

Your Central Hudson bill is divided up by delivery, supply, and state and local tax charges. Most residents are charged under Central Hudson's SC1 service classification.

Because it is regulated by the New York Public Service Commission, Central Hudson cannot make any changes to its rates unless the New York state government agrees that prices reflect actual changes in the cost of doing business.
