Bounce Energy in New York
We detail how to switch to Bounce Energy in New York state, price offers available in your area, and how switching affects your service.
Choosing an ESCO
Since New York's market for energy was open to competition in 1998, New Yorkers have the right to choose their own Energy Supply Company (ESCO) for electricity and natural gas. ESCOs cover the supply of your energy, while your local utility will always take care of your energy delivery.
Bounce Energy is one such ESCO, serving electricity choice customers across most of New York State. Depending on your location, Bounce Energy may offer competitive offers compared to your local utility.

We currently only recommend fixed rate plans for New York customers. Variable rates with Bounce Energy are not regulated by the New York Public Service Commission, so you could end up paying more per kilowatt-hour than you would with your local utility.
Luckily, Bounce Energy does not currently offer variable rate options to New York customers.
Early Cancellation Fees
All fixed-rate plans feature a fee if you cancel your contract before the agreed end-date. Your fee is calculated by multiplying your estimated consumption for the remainder of the term by the difference between the fixed rate you pay and the rate that Bounce Energy could charge at the end of your contract period.
Cancellation Fee: Estimated consumption for rest of term X (current fixed rate - future fixed rate)
Because the cancellation fee can be relatively high, we advise you to sign up for service only if you are sure you will stay with Bounce Energy for the entire contract period.
The company notifies customers 30-60 days before the end of their contract period that their contract will be ending soon. Be sure to terminate or renew your service, or you will be automatically transferred to a variable rate plan at the end of your fixed rate contract.
How to Switch Your Service
If you decide to sign up with Bounce Energy, you will need to set up service with your local electric utility first. This is because Bounce Energy will need your utility account information in order to take over service. If you already have an account with your local utility, you can contact Bounce Energy directly.
Bounce Energy takes care of your service switch - you do not need to notify your utility company!
Will My Utility Mind if I Sign Up with Bounce Energy?
Want the short answer? No.
Because all New Yorkers are allowed to switch their supply service to ESCOs, your utility company would have to accept it if all of their consumers made the change.
No matter what, your local utility still takes care of your delivery service, or all costs related to getting electricity to your home. By switching to Bounce Energy or another ESCO, your new supply company will only take care of electricity supply, or the actual cost of energy you consume plus customer service charges.
Your local utility doesn't lose you as a customer if you switch. The New York Public Service Commission (NYPSC) made utility companies accept your right to choose a long time ago.
