Do not visit an office in an emergency
Walk-in offices cannot dispatch crews or restore service. For any outage, downed wire or gas smell, call NYSEG's 24/7 hotline immediately.
- Electric outage or downed wire: call 1-800-572-1131, available 24/7.
- Gas leak or smell of gas: leave the building, then call 1-800-572-1121 from a safe location.
- Life-threatening emergency: dial 911 first, then notify NYSEG.
For non-emergency questions, call customer service at 1-800-572-1111 (Mon-Fri, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM).
What you can do at a NYSEG office
Walk-in offices handle billing and account paperwork in person. Most other tasks are faster by phone or online.
Pay your monthly bill in cash, money order, certified check or card.
Submit ID, lease or move-in documents for a new residential account.
Resolve a past-due notice and request a same-day reconnection.
Sign a deferred payment agreement after meeting with a representative.
Spread yearly costs into equal monthly payments to avoid seasonal swings.
Drop off medical or financial hardship forms for protected status.
Office staff do not enrol you with an ESCO; pick a supplier through the PSC's Power to Choose marketplace instead.
