Field crews dispatch from here. Most service centers also have a counter for in-person account help during business hours.

  • Pay in person

Cash, check, or card at the counter. Free, no surcharge. Most members pay online or via the SmartHub app instead.

  • Outages do not need the local line

Outage reports go to the central dispatcher at 1-800-492-5989, 24/7. They route to the closest crew automatically.

Insider tip

A cooperative that built fiber before the big telecom companies showed up

Midwest Energy & Communications launched its fiber broadband subsidiary in 2014, after the cooperative spotted a gap that no national ISP was filling. Today the fiber network blankets most of the electric service area, including in and around Paw Paw. The same crews maintain electric and fiber on the same poles.

What that means for you: if you are joining Midwest as an electric member, ask about the fiber bundle at the Paw Paw counter. Capital-credit allocations roll up across both businesses, so being a fiber subscriber as well as an electric member contributes to your eventual refund.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pick a competitive supplier as a Midwest Energy member?
No. Michigan retail choice excludes cooperatives. Midwest supplies all the electricity its members use.
My power is out. Who do I call?
Midwest Energy, day or night. Call 1-800-492-5989. Never call Consumers Energy or DTE for a Midwest Energy outage; they do not control the wires here. For a downed line, call 911 first.
Where does Midwest Energy buy its power?
Midwest buys wholesale power through Wabash Valley Power Alliance, the Indianapolis-based G&T cooperative that supplies several mid-western co-ops, with growing wind and solar in the mix.
