The insider angle

In Queens, ConEd is your electric company; gas is split

Most of Queens gets natural gas from National Grid (formerly KeySpan). Con Edison delivers gas only in small parts of the borough. This matters in two places: who you call for a gas leak, and which utility appears on your gas bill.

Check your gas bill once to confirm which utility delivers to your address. Save the right number; in a real leak, you have 30 seconds, not 5 minutes.
