The insider angle
In Queens, ConEd is your electric company; gas is split
Most of Queens gets natural gas from National Grid (formerly KeySpan). Con Edison delivers gas only in small parts of the borough. This matters in two places: who you call for a gas leak, and which utility appears on your gas bill.
- ·Electric: always ConEd. Outage line 1-800-752-6633.
- ·Gas: usually National Grid in Queens. Gas-leak line 1-718-643-4050.
Check your gas bill once to confirm which utility delivers to your address. Save the right number; in a real leak, you have 30 seconds, not 5 minutes.
